David and Christine Bergmann founded Laketown Electric in 1975, starting with apartment-to-condominium conversions in downtown Minneapolis. When that market slowed in the early 1980s, the company moved into commercial and industrial work. A merit shop from the day it opened, LEC built a reputation that was simple: take on the challenging jobs, hold the schedule, and hold the budget.
Today LEC is a second-generation, family-run business led by owner Matt Bergmann. We have grown from a 12-employee, $2 million company to more than 160 employees and more than $60 million in annual sales, with offices in Waconia and Mankato serving Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa. About 75% of our work is design-build, with LEC as the electrical engineer of record, and we have become the largest and most accomplished merit-shop electrical contractor in Minnesota.
